Dump-It! : MIDI System Exclusive Transfer Software
--------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
The full manual and online help system is contained in the file
DUMP_IT.HYP, which is an ST-Guide format hypertext. You need a copy
of ST-Guide in order to read it, or access Dump-It!'s online help
system. You should be able to get a copy from most Atari public
domain libraries, bulletin boards and ftp sites.

Version 2.31
------------
This is the second Dump-It! release, and it's a major upgrade from
the first release, which was only a small little utility for loading
and transmitting SYX files. Dump-It! is now a much more useful
utility with a much wider feature list.
I hope you find the program useful. Comments and registration fees
are welcome!

-------------
Note: when running this version in ST medium res, there are a few
display bugs and the program looks a bit messy. I haven't yet
decided to put the effort in properly supporting the med res mode
(and therefore people without mono ST monitors). Unless I get some
people saying "I need med res support" I'll probably remove it (the
program is much nicer in resolutions of 600x400 or greater, as is
most decent ST software).
-------------
What is Dump-It?
This program is a useful tool for anyone using their computer to
interface with other MIDI equipment, such as synthesisers, drum
machines, effects units and samplers.
It lets you receive the memory contents of most MIDI devices, and
you can then save this data to disk, to be loaded and retransmitted
back to the device later.
You can also define 'requests' for various devices, so that the
program can ask devices to send their memory contents to Dump-It!
without you having to initiate a bulk dump manually.
You can use and create the raw sysex data files containing
synthesiser patches and other data that are frequently found on the
internet and other such places.
Features:
At the moment Dump-It! has the following features:
∙ Loads/saves/receives/sends sysex data
∙ Multitasking Compatible
∙ Non-modal Windowed/Flydial interface
∙ Works in any screen resolution (ST-Low is not recommended! :)
∙ Works under MagiC
∙ ST-Guide manual and online context-sensitive help
∙ Supports VA-START for dragging files to Dump-It!'s icon
∙ Can receive single dumps of up to 256K
∙ Can define up to 16 requests in the program, and you can
freely load/save groups of these requests to build up a
request library
∙ Byte delay for older devices that don't like faster sysex
transmission
∙ Buffer display facility
∙ Analyse data function, including automatic removal of stray
active sensing and other unwanted bytes and checksum
calculations
∙ Imports Midifiles (sysex events only) and Satellite files
∙ Exports raw sysex, midifile, Satellite and Text formats
∙ Byte calculator, for converting between decimal, hexadecimal
and binary numbers
∙ Split sysex file utility in several chunk files
∙ Still in development, so hopefully more to come...
Please see the hypertext manual for more details.
Wishing you all the best with Dump-It!
